Hi..

I was sitting at my laptop here when my wireless internet popped up saying there was a wifi spot.. I live in the middle of the woods and know wifi spots are impossible without satalite internet.... It said it was a laptop to laptop "internet oasis" connection thing... when it hit me.....

Can I hook up laptop A to the phone line and "broadcast" wifi to Laptop B (or my PC)?

Laptop A is a Toshiba Tecra 8100 with Windows 2000 external wifi card

Laptop B is a Dell Inspiron B130 with Windows XP internal wifi card

Can i hook up Laptop A to my modem.. phone line and broadcast it so i can get internet in my room on Laptop B?

How would I do this? Do I HAVE to have a router? I dont have one..

It seems rather simple if both computers were running XP.... but since this isnt the case..

Thank you so much!!

You can do Ad Hoc wireless between wireless devices, even if both are just PCs.
You can do ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) with Ad Hoc per the linked MS article:

Okay... yeah i read this but..

Windows 2000 doesnt have the um "Wireless network connection" thing..

It's just got the adaptec program that came with the card....

Or is it buried somewhere?

if so, how do i get to it?
