I have a tri boot on my machine (98, 2000, and XP)
98 and XP can connect
98 can retain a connection forever
but XP can only retain a connection for a certain amount of time.
now. thats not really my problem, ill solve that in XP later.
What im worried about is
2000 used to be able to hold a connection forever,
but now 2000 cant connect at all.
I've updated to the latest drivers.
And it reads my connection as a 1MB/ps (its acutally 54MB/ps)
it does say its connected to my network and SSID.
So what should i do?

Try logging into the router...by its IP address. If you can't are you actually getting an IP from the router (ipconfig /all)?

Also, is 2k set to use the same channel as XP or 98?

okay.
yeah
XP/2000/98 all connect via channel 6.

Woo i got it
the solution was simple really.
All i had to do was go into XP
run IPCONFIG
and see the IP address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway given
then from there i transfered the same details over to 2000
and gave the Default DNS search 4.2.2.2
and now all is well
thanks again :)

That was the next suggestion...set the details manually.

So, since when have you taken up mind reading?

ever since my first post here
and my mobo broke

Yep...Sakrete....

That is the battery.

It is leaking.

It HAS eaten at least 3 legs of that chip next to it and probably the traces connecting to them.

It will get worse.

It is TOAST.

and mind reading from there on :p
