Is it possible to add a little message to the background of a drive. For example "...saving files at root level is not allowed, make a folder and save files there..."

If so how can I do this? I googled the topic but could not find anything useful.

PS. Windows XP Pro

clarification:
do you want that message in a windows Folder?

i think it is possible to add it.
just not sure how...

My college just adds a message to the desktop background image to get the same point across.

Yeah I also did that, but I do not want to have a paragraph of info on the desktop. Insted unique lines of text to different folders.

Sorry - but its not at all clear to me exactly what you are trying to achieve. Perhaps you could elaborate.

We just use the 'ol create a folder called: !!!!DO NOT WRITE FILES HERE!!!! trick, stays at the top, and if someone can't follow that... then, theres no helping them.

You know when for example you open up the my pictures folder (win xp) there is a little logo in the background:

I want to do the same thing but with text, on some folders.
So for example if someone opens up the D drive (windows is installed on C:\) from my computer they will see a background that looks like this:

PS. I did these pics in photoshop.

Just open the desktop.ini file in the folder you want to change the background for and direct it to a new jpg.

I think you are going to be limited to the three types of background provided as folder (not folder-icon) templates. Music, Video and Pictures. There are a half-dozen or so options in the drop-down list of the view menu's "Customize this Folder" option but only those three are available. You cant customize the My Music, My Video and My Pictures or any root drive in this way. Other folders can be so customized and Windows will try to guess which type if you alter the content in the folder. Thus creating a new folder nearly anywhere and putting just a gif file into it will, once Windows has noticed the change, give you a Picture type folder background.

Perhaps this is hackable to associate a template with another file type but I doubt it.
