Hello, our computer at home will not power up and I was wondering if the power supply has failed? The fans are not running, but the power led on the front of the computer is flashing. I wonder if it could have gone into a sleep or standby mode? The motherboard is an MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum (MS-7125-010). See signature below.
How can I attempt to get it out of sleep or stand by if that's the problem? The computer was shut down the normal way.
Thanks.

Try resetting the BIOS to defaults...pull the CMOS battery or use the jumper.

Turned out to be bad power supply. It helps to keep a spare.

First two things...BIOS reset and power supply. I usually check them in that order. A $3 battery is a bit easier fix than an over $50 power supply for most people to swallow.
