do you know if any version of mac os servers do serve pc machines through the typical ethernet connection? once again thanks!!!!

Yes, I think Novell Netware is the program that works for both. I'm not positive, I'm going by memory, but I know Macs and PCs can both run on the same network. With both being used by businesses and individuals, and sometimes within the same physical environment, it was necessary long ago to set up a means to connect both at the same time.

The last version I worked with ,Mac OS 8, could be a server to Windows clients. Netware and NT can also be servers to Mac clients.( With Netware 5 and up you'll need 3rd party client software.)
It takes a little work but it can be done.
