Hi guys,

I have two computers old one has IDE HD and Win2000 installed, new one is recently purchased with SATA HD and here XP is installed. I have a lot data in old computer IDE drive. So i installed my IDE HD as a slave to new computer, and upon start i got Windows 2000 startup and some errors in Blue screens of drive misconfiguration instead of WinXP startup from SATA, so i checked SATA configuration, here it is mentioned that their is no master/slave on SATA required..................

2nd time i jumper and select Cable Select option and start my computer but get same result as mentioned above.

i checked from BIOS for IDE Slave and it is there.

I want to backup my old data from IDE to my new drive at SATA, How can it will possible? And why IDE drive always bootup with Master mode, as we jumper the selection to SLAVE Mode? how can we configured IDE and SATA drive with each other

Thanks,
masterleous

You need to set the Sata as the FIRST boot device in the bios
Also disable, remove,or drop the EIDE down on the boot device list so it is below /after the sata

Then save and exit
This should force the Sata drive to boot and the old drive should be listed in my computer
Then you can copy your data across with no problems
