I just discovered there's a newly installed program or something by the name of AGEIA PhysX v6.10.25 in my Program Data folder. If it's not highlighted at my Start menu , I probably wouldn't knew it existed. What in the world is that ?? I don't remember installing anything resembling that name at all ? Should I uninstall it ? If I did, what kind of programs will it most likely affect ?

they make the PhyX processor Unit- do you have a PhyX processor?- then this would probably have been an AUTO-UPDATE of the Driver.

Ok, not to come across as a total idiot, though usually I am when it comes to tech speak, so does PhyX processor got something to do with video or graphics card? I have an ATI Radeon X1550.

it is a separate card- it will say PhyX processor on it.

Most likely, the AGEIA API software was installed on your system when you also installed an AGEIA-enabled game or something. Just having the software doesn't imply the presence of the hardware. It just means it was installed by something.

Happens a lot with games. They all like to have their own compatibility set of software installed. Very annoying sometimes - that's why I finally broke down and dedicated an entire computer to just PC games! More efficient that way. After all, many people have dedicated file servers. Why not a dedicated gaming rig? ;)

PhysX is a specialized physics processor, it makes anything in games related to physics (explosions, flying objects, etc.) look more realistic.

I think Saphalline is right. I think somehow AGEIA was installed when I newly installed 2 new games. It either came from Agatha Christie's - Evil Under The Sun or Sherlock Holmes - The Awakening. As long as it doesn't do any 'harm' or hamper the running of the pc, I just leave it alone then. Thanks, people.
