new at this so please excuse. I have outlook express 6.0 and have all of a sudden missing inbox emails from 10/23 to 10/30. They were there yesterday. I send test emails(which are visable from my SENT box) and then it shows 1 email in my inbox however I am unable to scroll and see this. After, discussing with microsoft and chatting with norton,I removed program rules(norton) and turned off and even uninstalled norton anti-virus program. Problem remains. For $79 I am told by microsoft they will fix until solved. Appreciate any guidance and help.

Hello tennisdave and welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif
For $79 I am told by microsoft they will fix until solved. Gotta love that
Do you have a lot of old mail in your inbox? If so, perhaps deleting un-necessary and organizing necessary into new folders would help. You may want to look at THIS (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321505/en-us) knowledge base article. It deals with McAfee rather then Norton so probable does not apply, but may give you a place to look.
I really don't know the deep inner workings of Outlook but it is typically recommended around here to not use it (security, complications,...)I would recommend downloading and using Thunderbird (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/thunderbird/).
I would also recommend you DO NOT reinstall anything Norton. There are numerous free alternatives to that pig.
Good luck

You could try DBXtract (http://www.oehelp.com/DBXtract/Default.aspx) or if there is not much stuff to go through open the inbox.dbx file with notepad or other text editor (with word wrap turned on). Simply viewing with a text editor means ignoring a lot of binary gumph but you should eventually find any text in your email messages. If its graphics or attachments that you want then that is a different matter, since they are there in binary format.
