View Full Version : Static issue
If static is a real bad thing to computer components, can we prevent it by wearing gloves when working inside the PC? And can someone tell me why simply touch the metal case can reduce the static?
Thanks a lot http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
Any gloves that could insulate against the static electricity voltage would probably be too bulky to allow handling the small components in a computer.
Touching the case puts your body at the same potential as the components inside.
Here are links to good information about anti-static precautions: PC Guide (http://www.pcguide.com/site/warnESD-c.html) and PC Support (http://www.pcsupport.about.com/compute/pcsupport/library/weekly/aa032700a.htm).
