Hey guys, I bought this new Dell Precision 390 off ebay, it has 4 sticks of memory installed in it, and memory reads 3.25 GB, it should read 4.0 no?
I've tested each stick individually, and which each stick out of 4 tested showed 1 GB, so that shows that they are all good, I'm guessing there is something wrong with the DOS configuration, or motherboard problems?

Its a 2.4 Intel Core 2 Quad, 250 GB Hardrive, and 4 sticks of 1GB Memory running on Windows XP Pro v. 2002 sp2.
I've went into Bios and looked at memory, shows all 4 GB's total, but under MyComputer > Properties it shows 3.25 GB.

I found a thread on microsoft website saying that windows 32-bit cannot use more then 3.5 GB of RAM
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929605/en-us
Aside from that one I found many others, so I'm guessing this answers my quesiton.

Yep, that would do it. Sorry you had to find out the hard way, though! :p
That's why I'm migrating to 64-bit operating systems! ;) Gotta keep WinXP Pro, though. At least for a few more years...
