My VDSL, NTT FLETS in Japan isnt working well with my dlink dir-615. Everything connects fine but Icant access certain websitesm mainly microsoft.com. I have tried different MTU`s and everything and have given up but I would still like a wireless home network. here is my question: my main pc is wired to the modem. can I use my second NIC to connect to my router and feed wireless networking and possibly a internet connection to my laptop in a different room?

Hello t35t3r and Welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif
What browser are you using? Can you connect to other sites with no problem with this browser? Which computer has the problem?

MTU problems would not cause issues with specific web sites. Your barking up the wrong tree there. You need to do a nslookup on the domain your having problems with. It is probably a DNS issue and could be malware causing it or a firewall.
Assume you cannot connect to microsoft.com
from a command prompt type nslookup microsoft.com and hit enter.

You should get a response from the DNS server your computer uses. An example may be
Server: dns.mydslcompany.com
Address: 125.12.32.1

Non authoratative answer:
name: microsoft.com
Addresses: 207.46.232.182, 207.46.197.32

No the first IP should match your ISP's DNS server. If it is not, then either you have changed it or some malware did.

If you get a valid lookup, with an IP for MS.com then you know it is not a DNS issue but something is blocking it. Could still be malware messing with your browser, could be this site is blocked by security software.

As for your wireless issue, assuming the PC has a wireless and wired NIC, you could probably create an ad hoc wireless network. I would suggest a cheap wireless router. Less headaches.

the microsoft.com and yaho.com problem happened on fresh install and several times.
as for the wireless thing, I have a PC with 2 wired NICs and I have a wireless router

If the problem is still occuring, run the nslookup command and post back results.

If you have a wireless router then I don't understand the question. Perhaps your question is worded poorly?

the microsoft.com and yaho.com problem happened on fresh install and several times.
Is this something that only happens occasionally? Or does it happen every time? When it does happen, what messages/error reports are you getting? What exactly DOES happen when you have this problem?

As for the network setup, I would recommend connecting the router to the modem, removing one of the nics from desktop, connecting it wired, then setting up a wireless connection to laptop.
