My wife was installing some new MS Office stuff on her machines at work. She brought it home and layed one of the cds on the table. I looked at the front an read something I found confusing. There was a line that read...

"Not for Retail or OEM Distribution"

Is there another way to distribute? Or, since my wife workd for a charity/abuse center, did they receive the software free of charge? My wife, nor anyone else in the office, knows where it came from.

Any ideas?

Respectfully, Cory

Sounds like it may have been a freeby or part of a package, if you by software as part of a package it will have something like 'To be distributed only with a new computer' it's not limited to software if you buy a 6 pack of crisps each packet will say 'Not to be sold seperately' etc. I would imagine that its some part of a deal.

Yes, Microsoft does have a special distibution of software to charities and other organizations, my local library has the same stuff on its CDs, the computers where donated by Bill Gates (says so on the little plaque in the library).
