I am going to purchase a new computer and I would like to have the DVD drive also attach to my TV so that I can watch the DVD's on a bigger screen if I want. I also have cable internet and need to know what to purchase to use this with a new computer. I am still going to keep my old computer and wonder if there is a way to use the same internet access on both machines.
I could also use some guidance when it comes to video cards. Every sales person I speak to recommends the one in their system. I don't know which one to buy.

You will have to get a DVD-ROM drive with a hardware decoder card, which has RCA jacks and an S-Video jack for cabling up to a TV/VCR or home theater system. Creative Labs sells a kit that includes all that. For the video card, might as well go "bleeding edge" with a Radeon All-in-Wonder or one of the GeForce 2 cards.

For internet access on both machines you can either use a router (the most popular is the Linksys Etherfast 4-port cable/dsl router, although netgear and some other companies are coming out with them) or internet connection sharing software, standard in 98se...you'll need a network card for the new computer to hook it up in any case...
The best vidcard on the market right now is the Geforce 2 ultra, although the geforce 3 is coming out soon (supposedly) so if you don't do cutting edge gaming, the prices should drop on the ultra soon and it's an amazing card (no I don't have one http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif )
