Can anyone tell me what is the function of the track 0 sensor and/or how it works on a fdd? I'm doing a pc repair and maintenance course(fdd module), and this question has got me stumped.

The Track 00 sensor finds track 00 on a Floppy disk. This track contains the FAT data needed to access files on the disk. If the sensor can not find track 00 it will not be able to boot from the floppy or write/read from a floppy disk.
The sensor is located along the head carriage lead screw.
hope this helps http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Comment heard from a Klingon programmer.
"Klingon function calls do not have 'parameters'. They have 'arguments'....and they ALWAYS WIN THEM!"
