View Full Version : We Were Wrong
Music industry exec sees the light?
Maybe...but it is probably the reflection off the bottom of the empty coffers...

Nope, I will believe in media contrition when the RIAA lawsuits stop.
This is just PR.
The heads of these media outfits believe they are gods so long as the money rolls in, and the lawyers they employ encourage continuous expanded lawsuits and tell these guys what wonderful people they are.
Yep...and right now, there is more $$ to be made by trying to appease the huddled masses (we are gathering the pitchforks, feathers and buckets of tar...)

Regardless of the rights and wrongs, unless there is a cast iron way to prevent illegitimate copying - (and there never was going to be since music can be played out of a speaker and recorded from a microphone) - then the whole restrictive approaches way was always going to be doomed - just as it was when magnetic tape casettes first came out.
By concentrating on restriction rather than embrace the new technologies and provide users with what they want - cheap, downloadable, high quality products - they have possibly missed the boat altogether. That is possibly why they may be beginning to feel a bit lewd of themselves.
