Welcome tohttp://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif Forums!
My suggestion...build it yourself!! Assembly is not a big deal at all...just some minor precautions to avoid static discharge from damaging things while assembling. Otherwise, most problems used to be with software and configuration, and I'd say that most problems with the basic stuff have been resolved...well,...with XP anyway...

Preferences for WinXP or Vista? DX9c vs DX10?
If I were doing this for myself, I'd design a "Crysis PC" essentially. This would include an Intel quad-core CPU, probably two GeForce 8800 GT's in SLI, 4GB of DDR2-800/1066, and Vista Home Premium 64-bit or Vista Business 64-bit. Of course, one cannot deny the allure of a Radeon HD 3850/3870 with its full HDCP-compliance and HMDI support which, when paired with Vista, means incredible HD-DVD & BluRay playback on a 24"+ HD display!
But both of these scenarios depend upon Vista for greatness (odd as that sounds) which means far less compatibility for older software and games. WinXP wins that round, but loses ground for a gamer like me with its lack of DX10 support. I solved the OS/compatibility issue by using both WinXP Pro and Vista Ultimate 64-bit in a dual-boot, but that requires buying a license for both. Unless you already have a license for your chosen OS?

i normally would but seems as SLI seems to be the best choice at the moment and im not 100% sure if the 680i MOBO will support Penryn.. and the Quad crossfire is not available i cant recomend that either..
can someone shed some light if the 680i MOBO supports Quad Core Penryn??

just found it
EVGA 680i users,
The EVGA 680i SLI motherboard will support 45nm Wolfsdale (dual core) CPU’s with an upcoming BIOS update. 45nm Yorkfield (quad core) CPU’s will be supported on upcoming nForce 700-series SLI motherboards.
Thanks
so according to other sites you will (yet again) have to wait until January to have a 780i MOBO that supports SLI and Penryn
