what do the parts do?

how do the various parts of a pc effect a game? especially ram and cpu. I know with a graphics card it adds textures, shades and better graphics since graphics are always getting better. Ram adds speed to your games? and what about cpu is that important.

the CPU: controls the AI of a game and takes the files from the HD and RAM and gives them to whatever part needs them (the GPU needs the texture files, etc)

RAM stores files that would otherwise be stored in the HD for faster access to "repeat accessed files"
