i have just put an agp card in my comp instead of the onboard agp , in my bios it says 'allocate irq for pci vga' set at yes.
it does not say anywhere in the bios 'allocate irq for agp vga' so do i leave it set at yes or turn it to no?.
and what differnce would either make?

This is a guess, but I believe if you say no, it will automatically set up as AGP when you boot the computer since it is plug-n-play. Do you have the driver cd?

Sometimes it depends on the motherboard, sometimes on the BIOS,
but you should somehow disable the onboard AGP.

It may be a jumper or a BIOS setting that does this.
If it's a jumper, look in the manual, or check the
website of the manufacturer of your motherboard.
If it's BIOS, look in the BIOS features or the Chipset features area.

Is your monitor plugged into the new AGP card?
Are you having any display problems?

yes the agp is plug and play as soon as you put the agp card in it gives you back the shared memory and takes away the option of how much memory that you can use for the onboard vga , but the 'allocate irq for pci vga' still remains at yes.

oh and yes the monitor is plugged into the card and no no probs at all

by the way the mothorboard manual and drivers disk has an driver for the agp port which it loads when i installed the onboard drivers which says will allow the system to properly manange the agp port and there arent any jumpers for it it works fine its just the allocate irq for pci vga setting i was wondering about.

It would help if you said what video card you were using. With video cards using Nvidia graphics chips this setting needs to be set to YES.

Changing this has led to some ugly problems I had to fix. If it is required for the card to work and you set to NO you can end up having to remove the video card, installing a VGA only card changing the setting back to yes, remove all drivers and references to the video in your Registry and reinstalling from scratch.
