I have two questions any help on these would be greatly appreciated

To what extent are hardware manufacturing cost and digital logic family technology responsible for the apparent difference in performance between RISC and CISC?

To what extent are marketing considerations such as backward compatibiliy of instruction sets responsible for the apparent difference in performance between RISC and CISC?
