I have recently been thinking of buying a NickLock "hard disk selector". I like the functions swtiching boot up drive but does anyone know if i can use that selector in a old XT (IBM). Thanks

Not likely. The XT machines used MFM and RLL drives, they don't use the standard Master/Slave jumper configuration that IDE drives use. The only jumper used is one to tell it whether two drives are present, it must be the same on both drives, and a terminator resistor is used to designate the secondary drive. That means the jumper setup used by the NickLock would not function with MFM/RLL drives, there is no Master/Slave jumper.
