Defragementation

When I defragement C:, the defragement percentage does not go beyond 44%. it gets stuck when the defragementation reaches to 44% but the defragment animation does not stop, which means the defragement is going on. I have no other softwares or applications running background, only my norton Anti-virus is running background. I do not understand why the defragmentation is not going beyong 44%.

When you are defragging you should turn off the anti-virus software, the AV software is scanning the drive checking for changes and while defrag is running it is making changes...depending upon the settigs for the AV software it may be trying to undo those changes...

Screen savers and some power management settings can also interrupt Defrag.
