As you may have already heard, CompUSA closed half its stores a few months back, now the other shoe has dropped and the store chain is being liquidated.
Poor management is the listed cause of the business failure.

Poor management no doubt...I can tell you a very short story that typifies my experiences in that chain.
I went there one day looking for something...don't remember what and it doesn't matter...went to the help desk and asked for assistance. There were no less than 8 employees standing around shooting the breeze. After 10 minutes no one came to assist me and I left and went to another store.
It's a shame. Great concept. Bad execution.

Ironically the CEO of the chain during the expansion years died of cancer before seeing his creation die.
Carlos Slim plowed $1.5 billion into the chain before realizing it was not going to make it.
The CompUSA purchase of TheGoodGuys video/audio chain was another example of inept management, they bought that regional chain at a premium price and then closed those stores, nothing came out of the purchase but more overpriced video items in CompUSA.
They also were under a Consent Decree for problems in fulfilling their own rebates since 2005.
Funny thing
This weeks AD shows NO Interest till June of 2009 :)
It's closing..
No Big deal
Like others I never got very good service from this chain
and will Not miss it
Well, a lot can happen in a month...

I was in one the other day that they are closing. Even with the "deep discounted closing the store prices" they were still higher than most other stores and definitely still couldn't beat Newegg. Not to mention since they are closing everything is marked "no returns". So if it doesn't work you are screwed on things you would normally return to the store.
There were a few things that were down to a normal price. I bought an APC 550VA UPS for $55. Actually a better price than Newegg after shipping costs. But that was one of the few exceptions.
They are going out of business simply because they way overcharge for just about everything. Why would anyone want to pay $300 for a $200 monitor? Or $25 for a 10' CAT5e cable?
A coworker happened to come in a the same time I was there, he was looking at Creative sound cards, even after a 20% discount they were still $30 more than Newegg. LOL! :D

Let me see if I got this... TigerDirect, which is probably the worst of the large internet computer retailers, is buying the remains of CompUSA which is probably one of the most poorly managed of the brick and mortar computer retailers, with the idea that this will create something positive?? Ack!!
