Hi.

I've had a look at this prog in XP, but can't get it to work.
Both machines are XP Pro w/SP2.

Can someone post some step-by-step instructions on how to get it up and running please. The built-in help is not(helpful).

When I try to browse to the box I want to use RDS on(get that machine's desktop up on THIS machine), all I get is: The domain does not contain any terminal servers.

OK, so it looks like I need to install a terminal service on the box I want to access with RDS, but how do I do that?

The help for RDS is pretty poor, so I am hoping someone here can help me.

Right click My Computer, click Properties, Remote tab, click enable Remote Desktop. Make sure you have a password for the admin account.

Thanks, that helped, but it does not work.
Anything else I can try?

When I put a tick in that box you pointed me to, then go to the other box, and select BROWSE or simply type the name of the other box in(in the RDS client), I get the exact same message as before.

Make sure you have a password for the admin account.

BOTH boxes DO NOT use any startup password - they never have, and I can always access the other boxes on the network without needing a startup password - the boxes all boot DIRECTLY to the desktop with full administrator privileges.

Don't know if this is important, but thought i'd better mention it.

QUESTION: Does this mean that I have to CREATE a password for the box I want to access?
I can do this easily in User Accounts, but thought I might be able to use RDS without having to have a password.(cos I don't want to put a keyboard or mouse with this box - it is a network file-server, and having a keyboard on the file-server box is just a pain, cos you won't use it after initial log-on and boot-up. I suppose I could pull out the keyboard once I have done that...)

The window you pointed me to, also had a link to much better descriptive help for RDS, so I am reading my way through that now...

IT WORKS!!!

Yes, you do have to setup a password on the box.
:)

Once I did that, I STILL COULD NOT BROWSE FOR THE BOX, but I WAS able to manually connect to it, by typing it's name, user, P/W and domain in.

Impressive little toy, this RDS.
:)

I think I will set this up on all my other machines, so I can deal to them all from one chair from now on...
