Lesson learned the hard way! We have an otherwise friendly, well mannered cat. Two weeks ago we purchased a new coffeemaker as it would be so nice to wake up to the smell of coffee. Our cat is used to starting her morning routine at 6:00a.m. but she would usually let us sleep until somewhere between 7:00 and 7:30 if we told her no. Not now, as this coffeemaker chimes when the coffee is finished. As soon as she hears the chimes she is on the bed working with great determination to get us up. I can't figure out how to get rid of the chimes so I'll have to set the coffeepot timer to a later start. No more slow wake ups to the smell of coffee..

Do you want to program the cat, or stop the chimes?
CAT:-
Set a small spray bottle with clean water on the night stand. Set the spray to somewhere between mist and stream. When the cat comes in to wake you up, give her a spritz. Repeat if necessary ;)
CHIMES-
Unplug coffee maker. Turn upside down over the sink (just in case there is some water in it). Remove screws from bottom cover. Look for a small speaker/diaphragm. Poke a hole (or 2) in it.
Good luck
wouldn't it be easier to just remove the speaker, or disconnect it. after all there are only 2 wires into the speaker it self (3 if you count the ground). and throw a small resistor about the same resistance as the speaker in? destroying the speaker will probably void the warranty more then replacing it.
