Can you connect a wireless router to another wireless router?

my goal is to put a connection point in my sister's room and connect her computer and mine by Ethernet cable to it and have it connect wirelessly to my brother's lynksys downstairs.

i have found out about "powerline" over the electrical cabling ethernet connections- does this work and is it cost effective to get?

Basiclly the setup is this:
WAP 1 is set up as default gateway, connected to modem, with DHCP enabled.
WAP 2 is set up a router using WAP1 as it's default gateway and getting it's configurations from WAP 1.
Are these routers both the same brand? What prevents you from just connecting the 2 upstairs comps wireless to the Linksys downstairs?

interference from my room. (a PCI wireless card and a USB card pick "poor" signal or lose connection for long periods of time)
we may have solved that problem though....

i am looking to other possibilities and i thought.. hmm.. routers are cheap....

all i want to know is it possible to use one to connect to a another downstiars (nothing has been bought)

Based on what you said you can do it. Remember that both sides of a router have to be different networks and that with most wireless routers have one radio, so on link via wireless, so from one wireless router you could connect to another wireless router OR connect wireless clients.

Also remember that you can not have two routers on the same network so the routers would have to be on different sub-nets and have a network bridge between them.
You might try a range extender wired to the router and placed as close as possible to the PCs that need to connect to it.

we decided to give up on the idea...

a network bridge is to expensive right now and can only connect one PC at a time unless you pay over $100.00.
