I work in an IT department for a University and want to be able to send personalized emails to users as templates.
For example, If i was to address an email "Dear FIRST NAME," I would like the first name of the recipient to auto fill in that spot. I know there are a number of software packages that will do this, but since we are installing it on so many computers I would need to find a free solution. Is there a way to accomplish this in Outlook? Can anyone recommend program?
We are using Microsoft Outlook 2003, and 2007 in some areas.
Thanks very much.

I'm very sorry, this should have been posted in a different thread.

If you make MSWord the default editor within Outlook you can then use Word to compose the emails. You should then also be able to use the Mail-Merge Tool to create templates to include NAME, TOWN, DATE, etc fields. The data source can be one of many but can include your address book.

I read a bit about this mail-merge tool. Is it possible to have the NAME, TOWN, DATE auto fill from information from the recipient? In other words if I were to use the template as a reply message, could it take the sender of the origonal mesage and autofill that into the 'Dear NAME' section?

You can have as many fields as you like in your database and each entry would automatically fill in all the fields that you have then included in the document, in the places where you have inserted them, for each individual's record.
