View Full Version : Net Frame Question.....
I am looking for an updated video driver for my Gigabyte Radeon 9200 agp card. I bring this up as I thought I had found the right driver from the ATI site. I downloaded an almost 30MB FILE that on dial up took forever but after I downloaded and attempted to install it, it gave me the message that it could not complete the install because it needed to have net frame installed to work properly. (1) What does net frame do? (2)Why does this driver need net frame to work? (3) Is there an alternative driver that doesn't require NET FRAME? The driver cd that came with the card doesn't have that requirement to my knowledge. Is this something new or is Net frame now a requirement for Win XP home edition?
The dot net framework is used as a base for software solutions, and is a part of Windows. You can download it as an update from MS by going to Windows Update. I would say that if it is a requirement for the most up to date driver there is no way around it, however it is more likely needed for the more advanced control center features.
Have you tried doing a custom install and choosing the driver only option?
Well thats what I thought I had done. I thought I was downloading just a video driver for the card and did not know anything was unusual until the attempted install.
Anyone else have any thoughts?
The driver itself may not need the framework, but the utilities that go with iy probably do...
There should be an option, you may need to look through the Ati site/FAQs, to either install just the driver (no utilities) or expand the package to allow the Add hardware wizard to find just the driver.
Last time I did an ATI driver it was one package. You needed to choose a custom or advanced install and then install just the driver.
