I was told to go into safe mode and look for duplicate listings to see if my mouse problems are due to driver conflicts. Can someone instruct me how to do this?
Sorry, I think I may have been the one who told you to do that...without telling you how to get there...
1. As your computer is booting, right after the intial screen flashes, right before is says starting windows (if you have a machine like an HP right after the logo) you hit the <f8> key and will bring up a menu. One of the options will be Safe Mode...
2. Run ms-config and actually turn on the menu so that when you next boot you can select it from the menu. Run -> msconfig -> General -> Advanced -> Enable Startup menu...

You can also get a boot menu by holding down [Ctrl] during boot.
