Update my router?
I have a D-Link DI-624 router.
I'm using Verizon FIOS. Can I increase my speed by buying a new wireless router and enough that I would notice a difference?
Someone suggested a DIR-655.
No, not really...
Are you using dual cards in your machines?
To get the 108 Mb speed it is basically ganging two regular 54 Mb wireless connections together.
Your FIOS connection is rated at what 20 Mb? Your router is at least double that...

mjc,
I'm a little out of my league on this but I have 3 computers "hardwired" and a laptop using wireless.
And no on the dual cards.
I'm more concerned about my "wired" connections being faster than my than my wireless. Although I would like the info on both.
Here's my test speeds:
Download: 5144 (Kbps)
Upload: 1735 (Kbps)
Your wired connections are going to be as fast as the network cards are rated...if the router is 100 Mb for a wired connection and you have a 100 Mb card in your computer then that is your top speed...among the computers on the network/router.
Download speed is going to be a combination of several factors...one of the main ones being; how many machines are doing something 'active' at the time of a download on a specific machine...if all four are downloading, then any one machine is going to have a portion of the bandwidth. Also, what, where and how you are downloading are going be factors.
