I was searching around for the "best" 8800gt I could find (as in best mix of cooling/overclocked/price) and stumbled upon this gem:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814125081&CMP=AFC-C8Junction

not only is it $40-50 cheaper than other 8800's clocked at 700mhz, it comes with a Zalman vf700 - oh and its design is OVER AN INCH shorter than most of the other 8800's. Is this card a steal or is there something I'm missing?

(I did notice that there are no ramsinks, but Gigabyte swears that it's fine.. and I'm nervous about putting my on own on because 1. I've never done it, and 2. it would kill the warranty)

The first thing I would do is research the PCI-E 2 and your system mother board
Make sure they are compatible

It is based on the Orb cooler and not the heatsink, fan, box design
Is it any better ?
I can't say
But it you want to add memory heat sinks
it should Not void the warranty

Just DON'T remove the ORB heatsink/fan

OMG!!

I wouldn't trust that thing! No RAM sinks?? That's crazy!! There's no way I would design something like that for modern GDDRx RAM chips!
