Just a quick question. Was cleaning viruses etc. from a badly infected computer and updating O/S to get it running properly again. I noticed it was always connecting to Internet at 10 mbps instead of 100. This is supposed to be a fast ethernet adapter, and I may be stumbling on the answer while typing out. It's an Ethernet chip on the mainboard of an HP computer as opposed to a card. If I want it to run at 100mbps and not limit it to 10, I should check out the system BIOS and make sure there's not something checked to run it only at 10 right? Besides in there, is there another place to look I'm forgetting about? I should add that the Internet connection is ClearWire broadband wireless modem, directly connected to computer. No router or anything like that in the way.

Thoughts anyone?

The NIC could be 100Mbps but the modem LAN port may be just 10Mbps. It is still faster than your internet connection speed. If you had a LAN with multiple machines trading files you would want a 100Mbps or better switch for faster file sharing. If you have one machine plugged into a broadband router it is a moot point unless your Clearwire connection is greater than 10Mbps of course. Which is not likely.
