Hi Guys.
Is it possible to force different resolutions and monitor/tv configurations dependent on the User Log-On so I don't have to keep adjusting the settings?
For example:
USER = Me = Single Monitor @ 1280x 1020
USER = Family = Clone Monitor @ 800 x 600 and 480i
Also, what about SLI? Each time I select 'Clone' I have to turn off SLI.
I'm using 2 x 7900GT with nVidia driver 83.91 if that is any help at all.
I also have both screens connected to one card - Would it make a difference If I connected the monitor to one card and the TV to the other?
As always, appreciation and thanks to all those who take time to reply.

I am open to correction on this but think that this has been broached a number of times before and, perhaps surprisingly, you are stuck with the set resolution whoever happens to log on. If that is the case a "workaround" could be to install a parallel installation of Windows, set the resolution differently on it and then choose between the two at log-on from the dual boot menu which the second install should set up for you. The main thing with parallel installations is to not choose to upgrade but to choose new installatin and then to simply install it into the default windows partition with a new name such as windows.001.
another option and I must say first that I am not sure it will work with SLI ( because I haven't tested or even tried it with SLI yet )
Make the needed adjustments and Save the Profile
Then make another set of adjustments and save that under another profile
At boot up windows will ask what profile you want to use
If named correctly the user just selects their profile and the setting should be correct for them
at reboot everything returns to normal and a selection is required again
When you save the profiles ( as in hardware profiles) Name them according to who uses what settings

Thanks for both responses guys - as always, appreciated.
However, Rick.... I give it a go setting up a new profile called "Media Centre" and selecting 'Clone Displays' and saving the profile. Unfortunately, on switching to the profile "Default" it did not revert the cloned display back to single screen. Wasn't a bad suggestion though mate, shame it didnt work.
Paul, as always, an absolute fail-safe solution that I am 99.9% sure will work - however, that's one heck of a lot of work to set up a dual boot from the position my PC is at now. For a new formatted HD or a new PC it would have been an ideal solution but for all the software & drivers I would have to re-install I simply just don't have the inclination or patience anymore (....I would have enjoyed doing it once upon a time).
If either of you, or anyone else, has any other suggestions I would be most grateful to give them a try-out.
Many thanks

One can start a parallel installation from scratch or one can clone the current partition and then use it. Basically you would need to resize the current partition and then copy it into the liberated unallocated space (or add a second hard drive of course and just copy across with no resizing). You then would just modify the boot.ini file in the existing installation to point to the "duplicate".
BiNG in my sig will do all the necessary repartitioning and cloning tasks but as with any repartitioning if you decide to resize partitions do have any important data backed up on removable media before beginning.
