What exatctly does this do other than the Start button Icon thing. Also, is there anywhere I can go to find a list of windows system files, and what they do? Thanks for the help.

As best I can find out user.exe is part of the Windows user interface code, not much on it available, but I didn't spend loads of time on it either. A Google (http://www.google.com) search will turn up lots of links to error codes involving user.exe.

Tech Advice (http://www.techadvice.com/w98/U/user-exe_w98.htm) is one of them.

I "Think" it has to do with the password activity of Windows; however, I really dont have a clue either.

I think the guy at this (http://www.sepultura.be/Whats_this.htm#user_logos) site sums it up fairly well:

The "Windows User-interface Core Component ", that's the official name of the User.exe. Without this "Core Component" you won't be able to start Windows. It's an important part of windows and it has many functions. One of those functions is that it contains the Windows symbol that you see on your "Start" button of your taskbar.
