Hello,
My aunt has a Compaq with Windows XP 32-bit installed. She let her daughter take it to college(her friends used it a lot, downloaded tons of junk) and now two years later she has it back. Well, she wanted to put the internet back on it. It will connect but when she opens IE it will show Page Can't Be Displayed or something to that nature. Dial-up is the only thing available for her. AND YES she has an ISP.
She also wanted it faster, so I loaded Ad-Aware from Lavasoft to try and help. I scanned it, it found tons of crap, I removed it, and now her computer takes even longer to boot up.
Could this possibly be a virus? If so or if not what can I do to help her out?
Im not even sure she has the correct restore disk. If it is the one she does have, it will not work.
One more thing... she does not care what it takes, she wants all that junk off.
