I just formatted my C: drive and did a fresh load of Win XP. I tried to load my original Chipset drivers from the CD that came with the motherboard and it says it cannot load the drivers. I went to driverguide.com and looked up the latest 4 in 1 drivers for VIA Technologies and that doesnt work either. Right now in my device manager the VIA Master Bus IDE drivers has a yellow ! and it says there are no drivers loaded.

HELP!!!!

Thanks!

Where did you download the drivers from Driver Guide or Via itself?

Ok, I have downloaded from the Via Technologies site that did not work, then I downloaded from the Gigabyte website (Motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-7ZX) and that did not work then I tried the download from Driver Guide and that did not work either!

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Jeff

I once had a situation similar to this:

1. Had yellow ! against a device [or was it an "Unknown Device"?]

2. Used "Update Driver", and told the wizard to look for a suitable driver and pointed the wizard at the inf file for the driver that I knew to be the correct one, but it reported that it couldn't find a suitable driver!

3. Used Unknown Device Identifier (http://www.zhangduo.com/unknowndeviceidentifier.html) to identify the problem device and help search for a suitable driver [it used as a Google search term the exact name of the device as supplied by the ROM on the hardware].
It found [among other things] a Microsoft webpage with a "hotfix" for the problem.
Apparently the initial issue of the Windows OS [Win2000 I think] didn't cope well and an updated version of a Windows file was being supplied.
When I applied the hotfix the problem was gone in that the wizard was now able to see the driver as suitable and I installed it.
