Extending my webcam. PLEASE HELP!

Is it possible to cut my USB wire on my Logitech webcam and add an additional wire to use it as a surveillance cam? Would this work or distroy my cam? Im trying to setup a little security system without buying high dollar wireless cams. Or is there a better way?

You have an external USB web cam, right? That means that you can plug it into a USB port and it is not part of your computer. If so, you can just by a USB Extension Cable, and use a couple of those. I don't know how long you can make it though with out the signal being poor.
