All this talk about System Resources has made me curious about another tab on msconfig: Static VxDs. I occasionally get an error message about having too many of these and not enough stack space. It's pretty infrequent, and next time it shows up I plan on posting it. In the meantime, though, what *are* static VxDs? What can you disable, and what can't you?
(Okay, I confess, I've done *zero* research on this one, but I'm still trying to see if my other problems are swapfile-related, so I haven't had time. And this seemed like a good topic for a bit of community discussion, anyway.)

Thanks, iisbob. That second site has a really thorough explanation, if you look at all its pages. Actually, after the first few pages it was way more than I needed to know, since I'm not a windows systems programmer. I had trouble, though, finding a site that describes likely VxDs to find on your system and whether or not you can disable them. If I understand correctly, taking these out of your registry can prevent your system from booting, so to restore it you'd have to edit the registry through a DOS text editor. Yikes! That makes me reluctant to experiment. At least until I've fixed the *other* problems I created this week. . . .
