Hey guys, I have a few questions regarding the PC I might be buying and I hoped you guys could fill me in on the blanks :)

Now because I am a tiny bit nub to computer hardware, I decided to go with Dell and and tweak a XPS 420 (there is an offer on currently, and i ain't really got money to throw around atm  )

*The PC is for Gaming btw!:D*

Here's the spec of the PC:

Processor: XPS 420 Viiv Intel Processor Q6600 Quad Core 2.40 GHz, 1066Mhz FSB, 8mb cache
RAM: 2048MB 667 MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2x1024]
Graphics Card: 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT

now, I have no idea what the MOBO, the cooling or the power specs are, but I'm ordering it from Dell so I am guessing they won't send me a PC that will just blow up ;)

Now PC guide people! My questions! :)
1. This PC is going to cost around £650/$1300, is it worth it?
2. Should I upgrade the RAM to 3gb OR upgrade the MHz to 800 OR just leave it?

Now time for ***THE*** question that basically says whether your PC is good or bad..... Will... It... Run... Crysis?! :p (If so, on what settings?)

hey mate

yes will run crysis on medium maybe high setting (if you have a small screen res)

go with DDR 2 800MHz

also get 4Gb if you have Vista 64bit

aight, thanks for the prompt replies.

just a couple more questions which i forgot to add then ill be fine.

firstly, I have no idea was bit my vista will be, its home edition (if that helps), or does it depend on your screen size?

secondly, would it even be worth getting 3gb of RAM? would sticking to 2gb at 800 hz be better than 3gb (2x1024 & 2x512mb) at 600 hz. (@ george: 4gb a little bit "out of my league" so to speak, an extra £250 :\ )

that's all. :)

Basically, what I'm trying to say is, will 2gb RAM 800 MHz be enough? And would 3GB 600MHz/4GB 600MHz really make a huge difference?

ps. I have 32 bit Vista

OK seems as you have 32Bit get 2Gb of DDR2 800Mhz

667Mhz is a bit slow now :p
