Someone told me that if you have your case sides off, there is radiation produce by the cpu.Is this true and if its is, is it dangerous to have the case sides off? Please inform me

Yes there are several types of radiation produced by the CPU...the two most common are heat, which of course you would like to see radiated away frome the CPU and radio frequency (most CPUs opetarte in the same frequncy range as cordless phones, CBs, scanners etc), as for ionizing radiation (like gamma rays, x-rays...nope). It isn't dangerous, but you may be more likely to suffer from electro-magnetic interference (which can cause random lockups or data loss) with the sides off...so if you take the sides off your case you won't end up glowing in the dark or anything. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Thanks yall know everything. Im taking off one side and putting a big 120Volt fan and you wouldnt believe the temps im getting http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif LIke its super over clocked and temp is at 30c idle 1gig@1350.It really just for testing purposes but i might just leave it open with that big fan just sitting there. Its the poor man s solution.LOL

I read on tomshardware that cpus in the 1ghz+ range produce electromagnetic radiation in the low-end of the microwave spectrum...
But...the amount of energy is probably WAY too small to cause you any problems...that said if you notice you're getting warm sitting next to the case, you might want to put the side back on http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif

There is some danger in leaving the side off the case in that your case will likely not be able to cool itself properly. ATX cases, I'm told, are designed to work with a small amount of vacuum in the case to assist air flow.

Yeah, but I don't think that improper cooling is really an issue if you have a desk or window fan blowing into the case...... http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Yeah yawning i think with a 120 volt fan, which is 4 times the size of the biggest case fan made(and a motor that is the size of a power supply), would cancel out the atx design. As long as its pointing(airflow) from the front to the back.It was amazing to see temperatures drop 10 to 15 degrees, with this fan,i wish i could some how mount this sucker in the case , im going try it.But i still cant overclock it , it keeps locking up and its not stable. The best I could overclock was 350MHZ, and the stablity is horrible.I guess Im not doing something right.I would get a palomino but i dont think it will be worth it.
