OK, new server box setup.

If I log on to the box using it's own keyboard and mouse, and enter my Administrator password, the system lets me in.

If I try to connect to the box using RDS, I cannot.

If I try, I actually DO get in, but I am prompted for the Administrator password, so I enter it, and the system insists that the password is wrong.

How can that be, when the password is the same no matter if I log in on the server itself, or via RDS?

Both the server and the remote box I am trying to log into the server with are XP Pro w/SP2.

I really can't understand this one...
I have double-checked that I am typing the password correctly, and in the right case.

I can access the shared drives no problem on the remote box, but can't access the box using RDS. Most annoying when I KNOW that the Administrator password IS correct, but the server says it is not.

OK, I fixed it.
:)

Would you believe that when you log-on using RDS, you have to enter "Admin" NOT "Administrator" for the user.

Infuriating, as XP automatically puts "Administrator" in the user box, and the password for RDS is an Administrator password, so you would think that this was all right.

Just as an experiment, I put in Admin and my password and away it went.

Anyone care to comment as to why RDS would choose to make life difficult like this?

A friend of mine has written a story...

A line in the story, detailing future history goes...

"The governments of the world combined forces to bomb old Redmond, Washington, USA off the face of the globe in 2038, five months after Windows 2035 shipped."

I think that sums it up...
