Howdy everyone,
I just turned 55 earlier this week and I now qualify for a number of senior discounts. That fact has led me to think about how I am using my time and about my involvement at PC Guide. I have decided to resign my role as moderator and limit my time here. I plan to finish up with anyone I am helping with malware issues, but otherwise will not be around much at all. I may visit more often eventually, but I won't be a mod when I am.
I appreciate all of the help and support I have received here. I came to PC Guide looking for help and fearing that I would be told that I was an idiot for asking. Instead I found effective and friendly help. I jumped in and offered help where I could. I still appreciate that aspect of PC Guide and I think we are still one of the friendliest forums around.
Thank you all. :)

WHAAAAAAT??? Holy cow! You are 55? :D Just kidding Budfred. Wow, I will be sorry to see you go. You are big part of what this place has become. The level of security knowledge you have gained and your willingness to share it is truly a testament to the PC Guide forums. I hope to run into you from time to time. Enjoy your discounts and your new adventures ;)

I just turned 55 earlier this week and I now qualify for a number of senior discounts.Sorry Budfred, but I would have to say that turning 55 is "highly overrated." :(
When I come home from work, I'm not thinking about going to the gym to work out...I already hurt. :(
When I order from the "Senior Menu" I've never been asked to see my ID... :( (I'd get carded on and off until I was 35...it was traumatic enough when that stopped!)
When I do order from the "Senior Menu" I don't like advertising the fact that I am..."at least" 55. :(
I certainly don't like the precipitous change to thinking actuarially! :( I know, perhaps that's the old glass half full or half empty...but why all this focusing in on half of what ever??) Now the only time they talk about a "full life" is in the obits... :(
And to top it all off, now you're thinking about retiring! :( Since all mods are commission paid volunteers (oxymoron intended ) you could certainly just take a less active role...
I'll pick this up later if I don't forget... :(
For now, off to the salt mines. A self-employed contractor has to pick up the slack for his only employee who didn't get the job done...

My turn in September this year!!!...
Only trouble is... I got to wait 'till I'm 65 before getting any concessions!!:D :D
You will be sorely missed here, your input has been top rank.
I would also wish to offer my personal thanks for your help and guidance at SWI and I hope you are continuing there?.
Regards.

Budfred,
I congratulated you on your 10,000 post, and you have posted thousands more times since then. I hope you find peace and happiness whichever way you set your sails. All the experts here are volunteers and you certainly gave those you helped a tremendous amount of your time and expertise.

You were the first member to respond to my very first post and made me feel welcome. In fact I was quite ecstatic that it was you because as I was lurking before registering I noticed you posting so intelligently in so many threads.
Thank you for your efforts here.
Be well Budfred. :)

Age 55? You're still a young man. But, I don't blame you for taking some time off. Enjoy yourself, young man.

I don't know whether to cry, (which I already am) or be happy for you my dear (which I am that too). What ever makes you the happiest is what I want for you. Thank you Budfred for everything I'll never forget you and what you have taught me.

 Oh my!!! Budfred, may you have many blessings!!! Although I am in shock (like big time) I do understand. Thank you so much for all your help, I don't know what I would have done without you. Can you maybe give us the name of your sucessor so we know who to bug and whine to for all of our malware issues???:D :D :D
It is going to be hard trusting someone else's advice, I was always so thankful and comforted when you would come to my rescue!!. :p
You just need to know how much you will be missed by me!!!:D
