replace the AMD X2 with an Intel Quad Core and the 3850 with a 3870 X2 (or an 8800 Ultra)

i am assuming that this is a gaming system?
get Vista x64 bit

get an Intel X38 Motherboard if you get the ATI 3870 X2 (go with a Nvidia 780i if you get the 8800 Ultra)

Yes your PSU will just be able to handle it but dont think you should be SLI'ing or CF'ing with that PSU...

If you dont have the $$$$ for a quad core a Dual core is still perfectly fine a E8400 will do all you need

Also if you can only have enough $$$$ to buy the HD 3850 get that but i do recomend you look at the 8800GT they are well worth the money

also if you get a Intel CPU get an P35 or X38/48 MOBO

He means you shouldn't try a dual graphics solution.

You need Vista to use Directx10, which is what you need to game properly.

I'd get 4GBs of ram rather than 2 (its so cheap right now!)

We are assuming that this is going to ba a gamming system (is this correct?)

and i would also get 4GB.

Just read a review that stated the system power draw under load using a quad core cpu and a 3870 X2 was 406 Watts - this was bare bones system with 1 hard drive, no DVD or other power drawing peripherals.

Think it also stated it was 248 Watts idle if that helps.
