Hey Ghosthacker!!! Or, anyone else that knows a thing or three about WIN NT 4.0 Workstation SP6a.

Recently removed the AGP video card. Replaced with a PCI video card. Found another use for that card, so purchased yet another new video card, this time AGP.

Anyway, as soon as I took out the original video card, I get the following error message on startup:

"At least one service or driver failed during system startup. Use Event Viewer to examine the event log for details."

OK, so I look at the event log, but D'oh!, I don't know exactly what kind of information I'm supposed to glean from it. I can of course see the failed service line item, but not sure what to do about it.

Where in NT do I find the commands for loading services or drivers relating to video????

Thanks a heap.

Hey Blue,
You would first need to be sure this card is on the HCL, then be sure to load the NT drivers from it's install disk.
The "Event Viewer Log" may not be the best source of "who, what, when, where", but it is a log of things that have happened. If you have someone that says "I don't know what happened", and there is no dialog box on the screen because they hit OK, you go there and you can see. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif
Hope this helps

Thanks Bass. First, what's an HCL???

Second, the AGP video card I wound up using has been installed with NT drivers correctly. It works as it should.

However, the error message is the result of removing the original video card, and that's when the error message first sprang up.

I will be the first to admit that I don't know much about NT, except that it takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

I just want a reg hack or whatever to get rid of the error message.

Cheers,

Hi Blue,
Not sure about a Reg hack, but have you tried removing the old drivers from device manager in SAFE MODE?
