Hello all,

I need help with a computer that is CONFIRMED to have keylogging and tracking software on it and I must remove it, and secure the computer so that it cannot be used again. I am almost positive the tracker is eblaster, but I cannot be sure. I will send a HJT log along this afternoon. Are there any spyware remover programs I should download in the meantime?

If you know it has one then, do not connect that machine directly to the internet. Also, if there is no 'vital' data on it, then your best bet for making sure everything is gone would be to remove the hard drive, stick it in an internal enclosure and then wiping it with a zero fill utility.

Post the HJT log. You may not need to be that drastic, but keep that option in mind as a possible 'last resort'. Also, if there is data that is needed, you will probably want to attempt a clean up before recovery.

Another good idea, before you attempt the clean up is to make an image of the drive. That way if something goes dramatically wrong (I have seen some severely infected machines sort of 'self destruct' during clean up and the data that was trying to be saved ends up lost anyway...)

There is nothing absolutely vital on the computer, so nothing can realy be harmed. I will, of course, keep the computer off of the internet until this is definitely resolved.

How as this been confirmed? What exactly have you done so far. Who put the eblaster on the system? Who owns the system? More questions than I'm comfortable with at the present.

the laptop is mine, and I know that it exists because it has been used against me before. I am solving the current problem by reformatting and installing windows XP, but I still need guidance on how to KEEP it off - eblaster can be installed remotey.

Please explain how this was used against you before? What do you have that someone would spend $200.00 to spy on you. The only way to install this remotely is via e-mail and you have to click on an attachment. If you don't want e-blaster, don't click on e-mail attachments and don't lose site of your laptop.
