Does anyone know where to find credible written information on browse masters? I have to find some.

Thank you for that page. Do you know any other ones, because that didn't answer all my questions. I still need a credible source for "how can you control the order in which computers will be considered to be the browse master?" and "How is a browse master updated to reflect hat a computer has been taken off the network?" If you don't know any other ones that okay. Thanks for your help.

Actually that link answered your first question very well. Read the order of priority for the Browse Master. That is the primary factor. If 2 or more computers meet the requirement the key phrase becomes "powered on the longest". Hmmm what button on your computer can affect "powered on the longest"????? Article also mentions how to disable the browse master ability for a computer hmmmm....

Issue not in link,, browse master must have file and print sharing enabled.

You have 3 options in browse master...
enabled
disabled
automatic

enabled means there will be an election for browse master and this comp can be a candidate. You can use the link to see who will win.

disable out of running

Automatic this is one you can research for yourself,, it is the most common setting.
