Hi,

Hoping I'm posting in the right place.

I just got a new Gateway T-1625 (http://www.gateway.com/systems/product/529667879.php) and installed Windows XP on it (Originally came with Vista).
Was hoping if anyone can suggest some audio and video drivers that would work well with it.

Thanks.

Doesn't it come with a restore CD or DVD?

Doesn't it come with a restore CD or DVD?

There was only 1 CD that came with the package and its for Vista.
(I made a typo in my first post, it came with Vista installed)

Dell R163694; manually target and install the driver as if you had a disk. One profile works the other doesn't.

Sound

Have SP2, dotnetfx 1.1 and 2.0, then install XP hotfix kb888111, Realtek/ATI HDMI_R168, Gateway cab D00664-001-001

Worked for my speakers, can't test HDMI.

Good Luck!

follow these instrucctions (im not very good writting english, so im gonna try to explain this as best as i can).

-Format your computer with the XP cd (I suggest you to install Windows uE V7)

-After format and the basic instalation of any program that you want, INSTALL this one:

Driver genius pro 2007 http://rapidshare.com/files/106562912/DriverGProv7.1.0.622.rar
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OJQFM9M9

-Then, download any of this 2 packs (just one, if this doesnt work, download the other one, in my experience the both of them works perfectly). These include the all drivers for the computer gateway w350a or gateway t-1625.

http://rapidshare.com/files/117660871/Drivers_laptop_gateway_w350a_t-1625.rar
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZLGSSGVY

-Go to MY DOCUMENTS, then CREATE a new folder and then uncompress the RAR file that contains the drivers.

-Now install the driver genius program, insert the serial included and run the aplication.

-Being in the man interface, choose RESTORE DRIVERS

-Now choose FOLDER as source of restoring drivers

-The clic BROWSE, and find and select the floder that you create in my documents, the one where you place the uncompresses drivers from the rar file. Then clic NEXT.

-After the installation completes.... select END or FINALIZE or wharever to CLOSE THE APLICATION.... after this.... REBOOT and THATS IT.... you have yor computer with WIN XP SYSTEM.

Any doubs wirite in this blog...

NOTE: After reboot, go to the system dispositives administraitor and you will see that only 3 objects are unrecognoised...this is "normal", it wont affect to your system or anything. I still dont figure out what dirvers activates these 3 objects. If you do...write the solution please..

Thanks a ton to all who've helped here - especially Kanionshaga for those links. I have to say that absolutely nothing else that I had tried was doing anything to my T-1625 until I tried the Driver Genius Pro per your instructions and everything came to life like magic. The biggest problem was that my modem just wasn't showing up in the device manager period.

Only thing that still wasn't working was the audio, which I eventually got working by using the Gateway CAB D00758-001-001 and the hotfix kb888111.

I'm going to be so happy without Windows Vista that I won't be able to stop grinning all day! THANKS again to all who've helped on this forum.

Thank you both! I slipstreamed the drivers from Kanionshaga's second driver pack (t-1625) into a new Windows XP disc, along with Service Pack 3, and then installed the CAB file Minardi pointed out. This combination gave me a fully functional Windows XP installation.

Previous attempts at hunting the drivers down individually and following other advised routes gave me an almost fully functioning install, except for a nasty Code 10 (Device did not start properly) error on my High Definition Audio CODEC, meaning no sound. This was unacceptable, so I went back to Windows Vista's bloat with a bitter taste in my mouth.

Thank you two so much... thanks to you I'm back in my "comfort zone" in XP, and can patiently await Windows 7.

P.S.: I signed up just to thank you guys. :D

Thank you all for the info to install XP/drivers on the T-1625. Everything is fully functional with the exception of the DVDRW drive. Playback flickers between black & white and color.

When I first inserted a dvd to test playback, Windows Media Player alerted me no dvd decoder was installed. I then installed Power DVD. Whenver I playback on Windows Media or Power DVD, picture flcikers back and forth between said colors.

The dvd drive is an Optiarc DVD RW AD-7563A.

Anyone have any thoughts/suggestions/solutions?

Thank you all for everything!

Check to make sure DMA is enabled. Device manager -> IDE controller (whichever one the DVD drive is on) -> Use DMA

I see all of you know a little more about the computer than I do, I've had it for 1 1/2 years and I'm started to encounter the problem that you've mentioned, it seems to overheat and shut down. It does this sporatically after being online for long periods of time, but only when connecting to the internet wirelessly.

I used the "Problem Reports and Solutions" tab from the Start menu and it seems I have a 'problem with the wireless device.' So I'd like to uninstall and reinstall it, but I'm afraid to ruin the whole thing since I dont know much:confused: , could any of you give me a website that shows a step-by-step, foolproof-as-it-can-be way of doing that?
