I want something that can play some games but not something that blows me away and can play Crysis at high settings and all. I have a good HDD with XP on it already and I have a monitor already. Here's what I am looking at:

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 x2 5000+ (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103211) = $100
Mobo: BIOSTAR TF560 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138081) = $80 ($70 after rebate)
Memory: GSKILL 2GB DDR2 800 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231098) = $45
DVD/CD Drive: Samsung (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151153) = $30
Graphics Card: MSI GeForce 9600GT (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127332) = $175
Case: XION II XON ATX TOWER (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811208008) = $65 ($50 after rebate)

That's $470 after rebates. The case comes with a 450W PSU, would that be enough or should I upgrade to something like a 550 or 600?

I might choose a different mobo. There are others in the price range that are probably better choices than the Biostar board. You also might want to pick up a slightly better processor.. unless you're set on the price you have. You could get the 5000+ black edition, which has an unlocked multiplier, for the same price, and get a slightly better board and OC the chip for more speed.

While 450W might be enough in theory, you will want to get a solid power supply that can handle what you throw at it, not the one that comes with the case, as these are generally poor PSU units. I would go with at least 500W and something more potent.. look for a good PSU for around 50 bucks and you may be able to get a less expensive case without a PSU included.

...and OC the chip for more speed.
This is not recommended on the PC Guide Forums.
Please keep in mind that this will VOID any warranties for the CPU and possibly for the MOBO.

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 x2 5000+ (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103211) = $100 <--Intel Chips are Far superior to AMD right now
Mobo: BIOSTAR TF560 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138081) = $80 ($70 after rebate) <--See Above
Memory: GSKILL 2GB DDR2 800 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231098) = $45 <--Good
DVD/CD Drive: Samsung (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151153) = $30 <--Good
Graphics Card: MSI GeForce 9600GT (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127332) = $175 <-- Good, but could be better
Case: XION II XON ATX TOWER (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811208008) = $65 ($50 after rebate) <--i do not care about the case, as long as it is a full tower, you are good.

Upgrade the PSU. most $65 cases come with a cheap no-name PSU, get a name brand PSU if possible. (like Thermaltake, Coolermaster, OCZ, Zantec, Antec..)
