I am looking for a new desktop and I'm an occasional gamer looking forward to playing COD4 and future games and I don't want to deal with the hassle of building my own system so I'm currently thinking of two options that are under $1500 (I already have a 22" LCD):

The new Dell XPS 630 or a custom built CyberPower PC in these specs

Intel Core2Quad Q6600
4GB ram at 800mhz (upgrade on my own)
500GB 7200rpm
Dual drive: 48x combo & 16x DVD-RW dbl layer write
8800GT 512mb
SoundBlaster X-Fi
750watt power supply

Dell and CyberPower both offer such specs at around $1500.
I slightly prefer the CyberPower because I get better quality parts like the motherboard, cooling fan, ram, etc.

I know I can get a much better computer if I built it on my own, but not interested. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Definitely go with custom built, particularly if all other things being the same. And as you probably already know the custom built will use standard off the shelf parts. Dell still uses a few proprietary parts, which makes future upgrades a PITA if not impossible.

Dell's quality has gotten somewhat better, but going from "very very bad" to just "very bad" is nothing to brag about.

Also you are smart to upgrade the ram yourself. You can get it much cheaper than buying from any PC company.

Enjoy your new system.

Originally i was going to buy from CP but i decided not to and spend a lil more money and buy it from someone else. There are so many good reviews of cyberpower pc and there are a lot of really reallly bad ones....

if you wanna take a risk and buy from CP go ahead... right now one of our own users in here is suffering from a CP system. his 680i mobo died jus so and now vista just messes with him! yes these things can happen from custom built or even dells but there are similar probs from CP buyers... but as i said there are really great reviews from some whom i constantly read...

in anyway good luck with your purchase! here is the link to reseller rating site for CP:
