Virus affects the printing????

:o Hi all. I am really frustrated and tired.
I think it’s a virus. But have no idea, how it works.
Windows XP pro.sp2 with all updates.
AV Avast home, updated.
Main symptom is: when trying to print, after pushing Print, goes forever, and duos not prints.
When I’m trying to go to printers properties, it says:
“Printer properties cannot be displayed. The print spooler service is not running.”
If I restart computer after this, after reboot, it will print the previous unsuccessful task that was before reboot.

After reinstalling Windows from ghost image, printer works, but after 1 day, or restarting of computer, same problem again.

Do you have any idea?
Any answers are greatly appreciated

i have found the same problem here
but the cause was Zone Alarm.
i have only windows own firewall.

also i change antivirus to nod ESET smart security, and no viruses again.

also i have solved the problem i think temporarily by changing in printing preferences:
from: Show print settings confirmation
to: Print Immediately.
