"Invalid System Time" error message?

Compaq Evo N610C notebook, upon startup and after the XP screen, the above error message appears even though the date and time is correct, how can I fix this please?

replace the CMOS battery.

9 times out of 10, if the computer has a time issue, its the CMOS.
